Renewables Hitting Price Parity?

Price competitiveness with traditional fossil fuels has long the enviable dream of those in the alternative energy industry from its beginnings. According to a new industry report, and as reported in the New York Times, the day might be dawning, in which the distribution of energy from renewable sources is ensuring price parity with the cost of fossil fuels, and in some cases undercutting them.

As reported in Inhabitat: “Emily Williams of the American Wind Energy Association confirms largely receding, “historically low” prices for power purchase agreements, more than 50% less than the 2009 figure. It’s indicative of the possibility of competitiveness in the industry, possibly even without relying on the uncertainty of subsidies as the House and Senate change over in the New Year.”
