Now that we will have a more progressive administration in Washington, perhaps the economic bailout package could include money to help Americans green up our lifestyles? For example, I live in the Smoky Mountains, an ancient temperate forest biome, and many of us transplants would like to live in affordable, sustainable green homes that fit responsibly into this precious ecosystem. But construction companies are building gated communities, McMansions, townhouse condos, and other contemporary monstrosities - not affordable solar homes. How can we help jumpstart our green technology & green housing sectors under an Obama administration?
My wife & I are taking action by creating a non-profit to assist those choosing to transition to a more affordable, sustainable green lifestyle at: www.greenequitybuilders.org. Check us out and if you're of like mind, please drop us a line at info@greenequitybuilders.org. Together "Yes We Can!"

If you look at the recent data (and I give some links below to articles about same in case you're not already aware of this), the planet has NOT been warming in the last 10 years. It's actually been cooling. Global warming has been predicted through 'computer modeling' and more and more problems with these models are coming to light. Since global warming is still, therefore, just a theoretical future threat to humanity (that the recent data indicate has actually stopped about 10 years ago), I submit we should expend our efforts NOT on going green but on the CURRENT & REAL (not future and not theoretical or speculative) threats to humanity, like almost 1 billion people without sufficient food to eat (although there's plenty of food in the world), huge chunks of humanity still without clean water, proper sanitation, 1/4 of humanity without electricity. Do you really think you should expend your energies (pun intended) on the most expensive forms of energy (solar, etc.) when one quarter of humanity has to live each day without any electricity. Shouldn't our efforts be better spent in getting the CHEAPEST (and therefore, not green) forms of energy to those without any at all, like yesterday? Just put yourself in the shoes of one of those 1 out of 4 human beings WITHOUT ANY ELECTRICITY to answer that question.) Here are the excerpts and links I promised you. Don't say you weren't warned that you've fallen for a scientifically unsound global threat and have thus diverted your precious attention, time and efforts from real and current global threats to one that wasn't.
“An average of all 38 available standard runs from the IPCC shows that models expect a temperature increase in this decade of about 0.2C. But this is not at all what we have seen. And this is true for all surface temperature measures, and even more so for both satellite measures. Temperatures in this decade have not been worse than expected; in fact, they have not even been increasing. They have actually decreased by between 0.01 and 0.1C per decade. . .Likewise, and arguably much more importantly, the heat content of the world's oceans has been dropping for the past four years where we have measurements. . . . over the last two years, sea levels have not increased at all – actually, they show a slight drop.over the last two years”

And this article gives a taste at how bad these models are:

-if such is true and there'r building gated McMansions as u so note; i see nothing wrong with that; however if these McMansions r built with the best of the best, why then can't they budget Green into the specifications?
Question: What is preventing builders from being sustainable? what is costing them so much?? is it the solar itself?? WHY? aren't they just replacing one system for another?? How can we bring he cost down??
