The article refers to the Zeiss Optical Company building a geodesic dome after WW1, included is a German patent dated 1922.
Does any body know the details of this ?
Did Bucky invent the geodesic dome ?

People have been making various polyhedrons, for example rattan balls, for a very long time.

Here is a page which has a link to Yunn Chii Wong's thesis on Bucky and architecture. It's a large file(185meg) but you'll find practically anything you want to know about geodesic domes in it.

No.
Good luck
Thanks Dick,
Apart from the Zeiss dome, were there any geodesic domes built before Bucky exploited the concept ?
Are there any details on Bauersfeld's work leading to the invention of the geodesic dome ? and
Is there any references to Bucky associating with Bauersfeld ?
Is the Zeiss dome still in place ?
It is a pity I did not know of the Zeiss dome, as I would have tried to find it on my recent trip to Germany. As it happened, after finding the dome crowning Salvador Dali's Theatre Museum in Figures ( Spain ) my trip became a bit of a dome hunt - finding 12 during my 7,700km road trip. I only went looking for 2 specific domes after Figures - so finding many more was quite a delight - 3 of them were at military bases and so my requests to have a closer look were not successful.
