The Wild Burro Rescue and Preservation Project is a non-profit 501(C)(3) animal protection organization. This sanctuary is necessary because the government land-management policy calls for the elimination of wild burros. Our sanctuary is one of the only safe places for them. It is also a place for mules, horses, dogs, and cats.

We are working hard on creating a modern, ecological, self sustaining homestead which is in balance with nature for our animals, and using solar energy to help the environment, organic gardening using burros’ manure, and compost as a fertilizer to grow crops, simultaneously promoting a healthy lifestyle and respect for all things living.

Our sanctuary is horticulturally oriented, and it is therefore our goal to have children and young adults learn the value and significance of being self sufficient. Our sanctuary provides field trips to students from our local schools and hands on training to both boy and girl scout troops. We also offer internships in the Horticulture Plant and Soil Sciences and Science in Agriculture fields to colleges and universities.

As for our budget, our income solely comes from donations. We do not have any financial reserves. We are depending and counting on our friends and supporters to help us succeed with our mission.
