I just saw the Whitney Museum Buckminster Fuller exhibit. I'm in my sixth decade and I am embarassed to say I knew almost nothing about him prior to seeing this.

The question I was left with is how much scientific basis was there in some of his more visionary ideas: the habitable two mile triangular islands in the sea (maybe), but floating habitable clouds? Fuller's notes on drawings of the latter seem to address questions of internal, external air pressure, etc., but doesn't this concept defy gravity, and reality, at our current level of knowledge and development? Are floating cities possible?

editor at inhabitat.com Firstly I'd say I'm glad to have found a site that carries the light Bucky spawned and nurtured during his sojourn on the beleaguered home planet.
I had a hand in more than afew domes back in the 60's, 70's.
I have an e-mail alert for ''colony collapse disorder''news, and your story on bumblebees was there. This story, with the report, came through 2 days ago, only the domestic bees are honeybee variety bred and fed to stay alive and pollinate greenhouse plants. NOT some ''created in the greenhouse'',
frankenbumblebee...Puleeze, this is bad enough without hyperdesign memnoids.
